HELLA BACKDATED
motormutt: Hey. . .
motormutt: you around? It's Mike.
no subject
MIKE! Where are you?
no subject
Yo, man. I'm fine, just laying low for a couple nights, found another scrap heap in Vandare.
. . .Look, Tex. The other night, I didn't mean--[to rile him up after killing someone FOR PURE FUNSIES]
no subject
Gimme a minute.
[And then after that, there's nothing for the next five or ten minutes. Until a car pulls up outside of the scrap yard. And, of course, here comes Texas. He kind of has a pretty good idea where all the scrap heaps are in Vandare, not that there's many to choose from.
The voice that follows next isn't coming from a device as it echoes through the yard.]
Mike? You here?
no subject
[Mike does indeed try to make contact for the next few minutes before giving up. He would completely understand if Tex felt like giving him the cold shoulder, so he resigned himself to trying again later.
Until he hears the screech of a car and the voice of his teammate. Jeeze, even without being a minotaur, he's pretty sure Tex would have found him. Mike himself wasn't sure he was ready to face his crew just yet, but looks like he doesn't have a choice now.
Hesitant, he doesn't answer for a few moments, but finally calls out. He's sitting atop Frankie's hood (that car has seen better days by now), deep in the yard.]
Over here, Tex. You didn't have to come out.
no subject
Except I kinda did. You had us worried there, little guy. [A few feet from the car, he pauses. What's the best way to say this?]
Uhhhhhhh, you're you again, right? No more crazy werewolf? Just, ya know, makin' sure.
no subject
Yeah, no more crazy werewolf. [He drags a hand down his face]
I don't know what else to say but. . .sorry, man. Not that it makes up for anything. Your head okay?
no subject
Ah, don't worry 'bout it. Texas knows it wasn't you. Just wish I could'a snapped you out of it when I had the chance. [For a brief moment, he's silent while he taps a finger against his bicep. Then he looks up at Mike.]
What about you? You okay?
no subject
. . .
Nope.
[Honesty is the best policy!]
But I'll deal with it. Not exactly something many folks can be okay with. More worried about the folks I lashed out at, like you.
no subject
[That's pretty different from his own experience with going crazy. It's also pretty sucky. It kinda makes sense now why Mike is hiding out here alone. Texas reaches across the car and drops a hand on Mike's shoulder.]
I dunno who else you ran into that night [aside from that dude they ate] but you ain't gotta worry about me. Daddy Texas can hold his own.
no subject
I know you can, buddy. Doesn't mean you should have to. And the things I said--[He stops short, frowning. Suuure did try to convince his bro to just go on a murder spree. Not cool.]
Forget about it. Look, gonna try to make sure it doesn't happen again, but if it does? Skip the chit chat and go straight to the knocking me the heck out.
no subject
[He says, giving Mike a clap on the back. At least now they had a game plan for next time... which hopefully won't happen, but just in case.]
Same for if you see me actin' crazy. Guess we should ask Chuck and Julie what they want us to do if they ever start losing it...
[It's not a fun thing to think about but if it's happened to him before and now Mike, it makes sense their friends would be next.]
Did you run into them too while you were wolfin' out?
no subject
[The thought of crossing paths with the others makes him sick. Even though this incident confirmed that his wolf side considered them pack, he would still fight them if need be. . .or in Chuck's case, probably chase him around for the hell of it, even without killing intent.]
Luckily, no, and I'm glad for it. Think some part of me wanted to avoid you guys on purpose.
Don't mention this to them, alright? Not yet. They've got enough on their shoulders without having to worry about my freakouts. Just. . .gotta find a way to make sure they don't ever lose it, too.
no subject
[Texas agrees uncertainly. He gets why Mike wouldn't want to tell Chuck and Julie about this but keeping secrets just isn't really his thing. Especially when, with the way things are going, it isn't as easy to keep it from happening as Mike would hope.]
Youuuu know that's kinda impossible, right? I mean, unless we can defeat this god and find our way outta here before stuff starts happenin', we're gonna have to warn 'em about the going-on-crazy-rampages stuff.
no subject
Yeah, I know. This place can turn anyone one their heads, no matter how hard you try. But for the times we can prevent it, we need to do whatever possible. Damage control, you know? If their guts start egging them on. . .they need to listen before it gets too bad.
[Is he basically saying they need to learn to hunt and kill, or at least start eating people scraps before they snap? Sure sounds like it.]
